On July 30th, at approximately 5:53 p.m., the suspect entered the Exxon gas station located in the 11400 block of Cherry Hill Road. The suspect displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. The victim complied with his demands and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

On July 29th, at approximately 11:15 p.m., the suspect entered the gas station located in the 6300 block of Central Avenue requesting to exchange an item he purchased. When the victim was unable to make the exchange, the suspect became irate and kicked in the door to the cashier’s room. Once inside, the suspect assaulted the victim repeatedly while demanding a replacement for his item. He took the property and fled the scene.

On Friday, July 27th, from 9:00 p.m.-3:00 a.m., the Prince George's County Police Department conducted a joint operation with the Montgomery County Police Department. Although this is a Montgomery County Police Department operation, both agencies joined forces and focused on aggressive drivers, seatbelt violations, impaired drivers, state equipment repair order (SERO), etc. We conducted enforcement on both sides of the county’s lines on University Boulevard and saturation patrols throughout the area.
As a result, our enforcement yielded the following preliminary stats:
The Prince George's County Police Department has located 81-year-old Lester Hurst of Beltsville in good health. He was transported to a local hospital for further observation.
Critical missing person Barbara Battle was located this morning in the Washington, D.C. area in good health. The Metropolitan Police transported Battle to a local hospital for observation and was later released to her family.
The
Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested 16-year-old
Andre Attaway and 17-year-old James Murray in connection with the murder of
David Krupski in Bladensburg.
Homicide
detectives identified Attaway and Murray, both of Hyattsville, as suspects in
the investigation. The teens provided statements admitting their involvement.
They are charged as adults with first degree murder and robbery. On July 28th,
at approximately 11:00 p.m., Bladensburg Police officers responded to the 5200
block of Newton Street, Bladensburg, for disorderly individuals drinking and
chasing each other with a shovel. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the
lifeless body of Krupski, age 54, of the 5200 block of Newton Street,
Bladensburg on the side of the road suffering from trauma to the upper body.
The body was found a few hundred yards away from his home. The investigation
revealed the suspects robbed, chased and beat Krupski. Krupski’s body has been
transported to the medical examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The Prince George's County Police Department's District VI Investigative Section is seeking the public's assistance in locating a critical missing person identified as 81-year-old Lester Hurst. He was last seen July 28th, at 1:00 p.m., leaving his residence located in the 3000 block of Craiglawn Road in Beltsville. Hurst is driving a 2005 gray, Toyota Corolla, with Maryland tags 5EVD57.
Hurst is a white male, 5'8", 125 pounds, with gray hair. He was wearing a blue shirt, cream pants, and brown shoes. He has suffered two strokes that have caused him brain atrophy.

This morning at approximately 12:30 a.m., a Prince George's County police officer was shot while working part time at the Galaxy night club in Langley Park. An adult male and two females were ejected from the club for disorderly conduct. The three suspects got into a white Honda. The male suspect who was the driver of the Honda, reached through the passenger door window and began firing a handgun towards the entry of the club. One round struck Officer Rachael Jacob in the leg. Officers returned fire. The Honda fled the scene and was stopped by police a short distance away. All three suspects were apprehended and a handgun was recovered.
32-year-old Kelly Gilliss of the 11000 block of Cherry Hill Road in Beltsville was charged with:
3 counts of attempt murder
3 counts of first-degree assault
3 counts of second-degree assault
3 counts of discharge of firearm from vehicle
1 count of concealed deadly weapon
Officer Jacob is a four-year veteran of the Prince George's County Police Department. Officer Jacob is recovering after having surgery this morning to remove the bullet from her leg.

A Grand Jury returned an indictment against a Prince George’s County police officer on Thursday, July 26th, for the following offenses: first degree assault, second degree assault, and misconduct in office.
It is alleged that on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Corporal Rickie Adey responded to the 6900 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights, for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, he observed a large group of individuals running from the scene. Corporal Adey confronted a 13-year-old who admitted he was attempting to elude police by attempting to climb over a six-foot-high fence. Corporal Adey pulled the teen from the fence and assaulted him. The teenager sustained minor injuries as a result of the alleged assault.
Corporal Adey is a ten-year veteran of the Department. He was suspended immediately after the State’s Attorney’s Office informed the Department of the Grand Jury’s findings. A suspension hearing is scheduled for next week during which the officer’s pay status will be determined.
Update: The subject has been admitted to Anne Arundel Medical Center, after doctor evaluation.
He could be there for one week. Charges are still pending.
On Wednesday, July 25th, at approximately 1 p.m., Prince George’s County Police officers responded to the 9100 block of East Hampton Boulevard in Capitol Heights, Maryland, for a report of a threat complaint in the workplace. Officers made contact with a supervisor who advised he had called his employee about a job-related matter. Both worked as federal subcontractors for Pitney Bowes Inc. At one point, the employee repeatedly stated “I am the Joker! I’m gonna load my guns and blow everybody up!” He threatened to shoot everyone in the building. The employee was in the process of being fired when he made these statements.
On Thursday night, Prince George’s County detectives applied for and obtained an emergency psychological evaluation for the employee. Officers also obtained a search warrant for the man’s residence in the 1600 block of Parkridge Circle in Crofton, Maryland. Today, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Prince George’s County detectives, ATF special agents, and members of the Anne Arundel County Special Operations Division responded to the address to execute the search warrant. Anne Arundel County authorities escorted the man to a local hospital where, as of 5 p.m. Friday, he remains under a doctor's care. The ATF recovered 25 firearms from his home including semi-automatic rifles and pistols and several thousand rounds of ammunition.
At this time, state and possibly federal charges are under review.

Investigative Section is seeking the public’s assistance in
identifying suspects wanted in a purse snatching that occurred in
Landover.
On July 25th, at approximately 6:00 p.m.,
officers responded to the 5300 block of Sheriff Road for a call of a theft from
auto. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim just finished pumping gas
and was entering her vehicle when the suspects pulled alongside of her in a
black Mercedes SUV. As the driver sat in the Mercedes, the passenger
exited the vehicle, reached inside the victim’s vehicle from the passenger
side, and stole her purse. The suspect entered back into the Mercedes and
fled the scene.

On July 24th, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Lt. Scott Finn was on routine patrol in District Heights when he saw heavy, black smoke. Lt. Finn called the police dispatcher and asked if a call for a fire had gone out. It hadn’t. He requested the fire department respond to the 1900 block of Rochell Avenue for a possible fire.
Lt. Finn arrived at the building, and saw it was on fired and told a woman who didn’t realize the building was burning to get out. The woman said there were a lot of people inside. Lt. Finn ran in as the fire started moving to the front of the building. When asked if he hesitated before going in, Lt. Finn said, “You don't think about it, you just do it." The officer is a 17-year veteran and recipient of 25 department awards, including Officer of the Year.
Lt. Finn ran inside banging on doors, and kicked in one where a woman had been asleep. He got her out and she asked if he’d gotten the people out across the hall. It was chain locked, but he kicked that in too and got out a woman and a young girl. On the fourth floor, there were dogs on a balcony but the railing was melting and Lt. Finn couldn’t get to them. There were no smoke alarms going off. Lt. Finn and now Cpl. Rickie Adey, who had just arrived to help, then came upon an apartment with three men. The officers rescued them as well. At that point, debris was raining down from the building. Some of it shattered Lt. Finn’s windshield. The Prince George’s County Fire Department arrived and took it from there.

Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide unit is investigating a drowning death that occurred July 24th in the 13000 block of Old Stagecoach Rd in Laurel. The victim was 21-year-old Kalif Omar Richardson from District Heights. Witnesses called fire and rescue personnel at 8:30 p.m. and advised they saw the victim in the pond. Rescuers indicated that the victim was located in five feet of water. An autopsy is being done this morning. Toxicology results will take about six weeks.
The Prince George's County Police Department will discuss their role in last night's apartment building fire in District Heights. Officers rescued seven people and several dogs from the building before firefighters arrived. Officers had to kick several doors in to get people out.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested 36-year-old Andrew Heinz Kugler in connection with the murder of Amber Danielle Schinault in Berwyn Heights.
Homicide detectives identified Kugler, of the 4000 block of Hillwood Court in Beltsville, as the suspect in this case. A warrant for his arrest was obtained charging him with second degree murder. On July 23rd, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers observed Kugler near Calvert Road and Bowdoin Street in College Park where he was apprehended. Prior to being placed into custody, Kugler attempted to take his own life by cutting his wrist. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Kugler has been remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
On July 22, 2012, at 3:31 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of 57th Avenue for the report to check on the welfare. Upon arrival, officers discovered Schinault, of the 8600 block of 57th Avenue, suffering from lacerations to her neck. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

located in the 100 block of Irving Street, N.E. in Washington D.C., where they arrived
at 8:00 a.m. He dropped off his wife at
the hospital but never returned.
Cooper is a
black male with a dark complexion, 5'10", 220 pounds, black and gray hair,
and may be wearing eyeglasses. He suffers from dementia and high
blood pressure. Cooper was last seen driving a 2006 silver Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Prince George's County Police Department has located Oscar Harry Washington, 75, of Bowie who was reported missing at 11 a.m. on July 15th. On July 17th, at approximately 9:53 a.m., District II's Investigative Section, with assistance from the Academy Class - Session 122, the Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland, Inc., and Mid-Atlantic D.O.G.S., was able to locate Mr. Washington in a wood line 100 yards away from this home. This after two days of police searches of the area. He was found in fair condition and was transported to a local hospital for observation.

Prince George’s County Police are investigating a citizen robbery which resulted in the death of a man who was run over by a vehicle near Fairmont Heights.
On July 15th, at approximately 12:19 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1200 block of Oates Street for the report that a man had been run over at a robbery scene. Upon arrival, the victims advised police that a man had been run over and was trapped under a vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Bradford Anson McCoy, 30, of the 2300 block of Vermont Avenue in Landover, saw an acquaintance and three other men at the corner of Oates Street. McCoy parked his Comcast contract vehicle nearby and began to talk with the men. Three armed masked suspects approached the men on foot and announced a robbery. The suspects ordered McCoy and the men to the ground.
One of the suspects then approached a white sedan that was parked nearby. The suspect ordered a woman who was behind the wheel to give him the keys to the car. The woman, fearing for her life, attempted to drive away, striking McCoy, who was still on the ground. McCoy was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman remained on scene until police arrived. The suspects fled in McCoy’s Comcast vehicle, which was later recovered by Metropolitan police. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s). The investigation is ongoing.
