Detectives Investigate Double Fatal Shooting in The Town of Bladensburg

Updated March 14, 2019: The investigation into this double shooting has concluded. The investigation revealed that the two decedents, Jonathan Contreras and Varney Batener Jr., arranged to meet on January 30^th to conduct an illegal drug transaction. During that encounter, an argument broke out. Both of the decedents pulled out guns and shot each other inside of a car. They both later died of their injuries.

Detectives are investigating a double fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday evening in the town of Bladensburg. The victims are 23-year-old Jonathan Contreras of Quick Silver Court in Bowie and 24-year-old Varney Batener Jr. of Donovan Street in Hyattsville.

On January 30^th, at approximately 5:05 pm, patrol officers along with Town of Bladensburg officers were called to the 5000 block of 57^th Avenue for a shooting. They discovered Contreras and Batener Jr. outside suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a hospital where they both died a short time later.

Detectives are working to establish a suspect(s) and motive at this time.

Detectives Make Quick Arrest in City of Hyattsville Homicide

Detectives with our Homicide Unit identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in the City of Hyattsville on Wednesday. The suspect is 49-year-old Joseph Deloatch of the 3700 block of Hamilton Street. He’s charged with fatally shooting a man with whom he was acquainted. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family

On January 30^th, at approximately 1:45 am, patrol officers and Hyattsville City officers were called to the 3700 block of Hamilton Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim inside of a home suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Homicide detectives quickly identified Deloatch as the suspect. He was located and arrested a short time later in Bowie. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect and victim were involved in an argument when the suspect shot the victim.

Deloatch is charged with first degree murder and related charges. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Convenience Store Armed Robbery

Robbery Unit detectives are working to find and arrest this suspect who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint. The preliminary investigation reveals this suspect walked into the business in the 7000 block of Central Avenue in Capitol Heights on January 24^th at 1:40 am. He threatened the employee and demanded cash.

Theft Suspect

Detectives are also asking for the community’s assistance in identifying this theft suspect. He’s wanted for stealing tools from a business in the 11000 block of Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville on January 11^th. Cell Phone Store Robbery

This suspect is wanted for the armed robbery of a cell phone store in Oxon Hill. The robbery took place at the business in the 5000 block of Indian Head Highway on January 23^rd at about 7:35 pm. PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in College Park

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in College Park that occurred on Saturday. The victim is 88-year-old Duangduen Schulick of Cable Drive in Kensington.

On January 26th, at approximately 6:40 am, patrol officers were called to the area of Baltimore Avenue and Edgewood Road for a collision involving three vehicles. The officers located Schulick unresponsive in her car. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was traveling southbound on Baltimore Avenue, when for reasons which remain under investigation, her car rear-ended a Mazda that stopped at a red traffic light. After that initial impact, the victim’s car then struck a Ford pickup truck head on. The two other involved drivers were not hurt.

PGPD Investigating Death of Man in Accokeek

Prince George's County Police Detectives are investigating the death of a man found inside of his car near Indian Head Highway just before midnight Thursday.

Our officers responded to a 911 call for a single vehicle that had run off Route 210 and had come to rest in the 17000 block of Beech Lane in Accokeek.  An autopsy this afternoon determined that the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound just prior to the crash.  No other vehicles were struck. 
Detectives from our Criminal Investigation Division are leading the investigation. We have no further information at this time. 
Any further inquiries regarding the deceased male should contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office.  

Additionally, a Prince George's County Police officer is recovering from injuries he sustained after being struck while inside his patrol car on stationary post. The officer was helping to hold a perimeter on Route 210 which was shut down for the death investigation above.  He was rushed by helicopter to an area hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to the hospital.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision involving our officer. Charges against the striking driver are pending as the investigation continues.

Teenager Charged in Connection With Shooting Inside of Landover Home

Detectives arrested and charged a teenager with shooting his friend inside of a Landover home Wednesday morning. The suspect is 16-year-old Edwin Munoz Hernandez of the 6700 block of Dorman Street in Landover. 

On January 23rd, at approximately 10:00 am, officers were called to the 6700 block of Dorman Street for a shooting. They discovered a 15-year-old male victim in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound. He remains in critical condition. His injuries are life-threatening. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim and Munoz Hernandez were drinking alcohol inside of the home. The suspect admits to playing with two guns which have been recovered. While handling the guns, the suspect admits to pointing one of them at the victim and pulling the trigger.

The suspect is charged as an adult with first degree assault, use of a handgun in a crime of violence and related handgun charges. He is currently in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Theft Investigation

We are starting Wanted Wednesday with this suspect who is wanted for a theft at a home improvement store. The store is in the 10000 block of Martin Luther King Junior Highway in Lanham. The theft occurred on January 15^th at 7:15 am. The investigation reveals the suspect stole power tools from the business and then fled in a dark-colored truck. Theft Suspect

Please take a look at this suspect. He’s wanted for a theft at a home improvement store in College Park. This theft occurred on January 22^nd at approximately 1:10 pm at the store in the 4000 block of Cherry Hill Road. The suspect took a large quantity of tools. Gas Station Burglary

Detectives are also investigating an attempted burglary at a gas station in Beltsville. On January 21^st around 6:00 pm, the pictured suspect entered the gas station through a side door and attempted to steal merchandise from a storage room. Residential Burglary

Cellphone Store Attempted Burglary

And finally, the Regional Investigation Division is also investigating an attempted commercial burglary. The crime occurred on January 15th at 11:45 pm at a business in the 5400 block of Saint Barnabas Road Oxon Hill. The suspect entered the store by breaking the front glass door.  Once inside, the suspect attempted to steal a large safe. Detectives Arrest Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide in Beltsville

Homicide Unit detectives charged a suspect in connection with a domestic-related homicide in Beltsville. The suspect is 26-year-old David Flores Jr. of the 11000 block of Cedar Lane in Beltsville. He’s charged with fatally stabbing his father, 64-year-old David Flores Sr., also of Cedar Lane.

On January 21st, at about 11:00 am, patrol officers responded to the family’s home on Cedar Lane for the report of a dispute. When they arrived, the officers discovered the victim inside of his home suffering from trauma to his body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. He has admitted to stabbing his father. The motive for this domestic-related stabbing is under investigation.

The suspect is charged with first and second degree murder and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He is being held on a no-bond status.

PGPD Investigating City of Seat Pleasant Police Department Officer-Involved Shooting

Prince George’s County Police Detectives with our Criminal Investigation Division along with the Special Investigation Response Team of our Internal Affairs Division are investigating an officer-involved shooting involving an on-duty City of Seat Pleasant police officer.  

Preliminarily, on January 17^th around 3:45pm, a City of Seat Pleasant police officer conducted a traffic stop on Central Avenue near East Capitol Street.  The officer exited his patrol car and as he was approaching the stopped driver’s window, the driver sped off.  There was a very brief pursuit which the officer called off, but then saw the vehicle turn down a dead-end street. The officer followed, stopped his patrol car, got out and retreated to the rear of his patrol vehicle, then began to give the driver loud verbal commands.  At that time, the driver ignored his commands and accelerated, fleeing the area.  For reasons which remain under investigation, the officer discharged his service weapon multiple times.  There was another gun later located near the scene of the incident.  Our detectives are working to determine whether it is connected to the case.      

Today, our detectives located and recovered the involved-citizen’s vehicle in Northeast DC.  We are still working to identify and locate the driver.  It is unknown if the driver was injured in the shooting.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Capitol Heights. The victim is 39-year-old Akil Nesby of 58th Street in Northeast Washington, DC.

On January16th, at approximately 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the area of Central Avenue and Hampton Park Boulevard for a collision involving a pedestrian. The officers located the pedestrian, Nesby, suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals the involved SUV was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue toward Hampton Park Boulevard in the left lane. The victim was walking on Central Avenue in a vehicle travel lane when he was struck. Investigators are working to determine why he was in the roadway. The involved driver remained on the scene.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Lanham

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Lanham on Wednesday. The victim is 75-year-old Victoria Hamilton of Bald Hill Road in Mitchellville.

 On January 16^th, at about 8:00 am, patrol officers were called to Martin Luther King Jr. Highway at Whitfield Chapel Road for a crash involving two cars.

 The preliminary investigation reveals Hamilton was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. The second involved car was heading eastbound and was attempting to make a left turn onto Whitfield Chapel Road. The two cars collided in the intersection. Investigators are working to determine which driver had the right of way. Hamilton was taken to the hospital where she died of her injuries. The second driver suffered serious injuries.

Shoe Store Theft Investigation

We are working to identify this suspect in connection with a theft at a shoe store in Lanham. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect stole from the business in the 9300 block of Annapolis Road on December 13^th. Several pieces of clothing were taken during the theft. We would also like to track down and arrest these two suspects. They’re linked to a burglary of a home in Fort Washington on January 7th. The preliminary investigation reveals two male suspects broke into the basement of the home and attempted to steal a safe. Detectives believe a female suspect was acting as a getaway driver. Two Suspects in Custody for Lanham Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives charged two suspects in connection with a homicide in Lanham on Tuesday. The suspects are 44-year-old Dorian Ragland of the 800 block of Sledgehammer Dive in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and 29 year-old Christopher Foxworth of Wild Turkey Drive in Stafford, VA. They’re charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Thomas Baldwin of Farrell Lane in Fredericksburg, VA. 

 

On January 8^th, at approximately 7:15 am, patrol officers were called to the 5700 block of Lundy Drive for a welfare check. Baldwin was located in the backyard of a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim and suspects knew each other and travelled together from Virginia to Prince George’s County the day of the murder. The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation. 

 

Ragland and Foxworth are both charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. They are currently being held in the District of Columbia and are awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.

Detectives Investigate Homicide in Capitol Heights

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man Wednesday in Capitol Heights. The victim is 26-year-old Regis Payne of Montana Avenue NE in Washington D.C. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. On January 9^th, at approximately 8:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 5900 block of Baltic Avenue for a report of an injured person. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Payne unresponsive in the roadway. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.

 Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive in this case.

Robbery Unit detectives are working to identify this suspect who stole cash from a drugstore in Bowie. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect displayed a weapon and demanded money at the store in the 6000 block of HIghbridge Road. PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Adelphi

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Adelphi. The victim is 75-year-old Shufang Wu of Edwards Way in Hyattsville.

On January 6^th, at approximately 3:30 pm, patrol officers were called to New Hampshire Avenue and Metzerott Road for a collision. They located the victim suffering from critical injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the involved car was traveling northbound on New Hampshire Avenue approaching a green traffic signal at Metzerott Road. The victim was crossing northbound New Hampshire Avenue at Metzerott Road when she was struck. Preliminarily, it does not appear she was in a crosswalk. The involved driver remained on the scene.

PGPD Officer Suspended During Investigation Into Alleged Sexual Assault

Metro Transit Police are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault involving one of our patrol officers.

The assault is alleged to have occurred outside of the New Carrollton Metro Station just before 5:00 am today. The involved-officer was on-duty. A woman claims the officer inappropriately touched her. Metro Transit Police say the officer is fully cooperating with the investigation.

As soon as the woman made the allegation, Metro Transit Police and the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division began separate investigations. Metro Transit Police detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the Metro station as part of their investigation.

As is standard when allegations involve criminal wrongdoing, the officer has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

Suspect in Custody in Connection With Double Fatal Shooting in Clinton

Updated January 9, 2019: A second suspect is in custody in connection with this double fatal shooting. He’s 19-year-old Deven Wright of the 4000 block of West Village Avenue in Suitland. He’s currently in custody in the District of Columbia awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. He’s charged with first and second degree murder, assault and related charges. The preliminary investigation reveals Wright also conspired to set up an illegal drug transaction with the intention of robbing individuals involved in that transaction. The original suspect in this case, Sean Davis Jr., is already in custody.

Homicide Unit detectives arrested one suspect in connection with a double fatal shooting Thursday evening in Clinton. He is 20-year-old Sean Davis Jr., of the 18000 block of Merino Drive in Accokeek. The decedents in this investigation are 19-year-old Robert Glasco of Nova Avenue in Capitol Heights and 19-year old Shaquan Chambers of Surratts Village Drive in Clinton.  

On January 3rd, at approximately 7:05 pm, officers were called to the 5900 block of Surratts Village Drive for a shooting. They discovered Chambers outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. At approximately 7:10 pm, Glasco arrived at an area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. 

The preliminary investigation reveals Glasco and Chambers were among two groups of individuals, who were known to each other, who met to conduct an illegal drug transaction on nearby Sweden Road when gunfire was exchanged between the two groups. Preliminarily, it’s believed Davis set up the deal with the intention of robbing individuals involved in the transaction. He is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. The investigation continues.
