Prince George's County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department along with the Maryland State Highway Administration hosted a live demonstration of a single vehicle rollover crash. The event was held this morning at Parkdale High School as a part of the “Smooth Operator” program. The mock crash highlighted the dangers and aftermath of being distracted behind the wheel. It also provided a vivid example of the damages and results that could be caused by aggressive driving.
“The safety of our roadways and those who travel on them is of paramount concern. The Prince George’s County Police Department is committed to doing our part to combat aggressive driving and keep our roadways safe.” said Chief Mark Magaw.
The “Smooth Operator” Program was founded in 1997 with 18 law enforcement agencies, public safety officials, and other experts across the greater Washington, D.C., region to coordinate efforts to reduce aggressive driving. The program efforts have resulted in over 3.6 million citations being issued to aggressive drivers since its inception.
