Prince George’s County Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the homicide of Thelma Elaine Steele, 92, of the 2900 block of East Avenue, yesterday evening in Forestville, Maryland.
On August 15, 2011, at approximately 8:23 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 2900 block of East Avenue after receiving a call from a concerned family member to check on the welfare of the victim. Upon arrival, officers found Thelma Steele inside the residence suffering from trauma to her upper body. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.
“As a law enforcement agency and community, we are appalled by this terrible act of violence. It is unthinkable to imagine that someone would prey on a senior member of our community and we vow to bring to justice the person or persons responsible,” stated Chief of Police, Mark A. Magaw.
