Crossing Guards Honored at 36th Annual Back-to-School Night

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Community Services Division celebrated its 36th annual “Back-to-School Night” last night at the Police Services Complex in Palmer Park. The ceremony honored and highlighted Jeanne Osborne and Roberta Petro for serving as crossing guards in Prince George’s County for 45 years, along with thirty-five additional crossing guards who were also recognized for various milestones and years of dedicated service to the department and the community.

Prince George’s County Chief of Police Mark A. Magaw, Assistant Commander of the Community Services Division, Captain Irene Huskens, and Crossing Guard Supervisor, Catherine Tayman, were on hand to congratulate the crossing guards.

“You are a critical part of this agency that protects our most valuable assets; our children. So many of you do a tremendous job in all types of weather to make sure our children our safe as they travel to and from school,” stated Chief Magaw.

“Back-to-School Night” is an annual event to recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of our Crossing Guard Unit.
