Highlights from PGPD's 2011 Police Explorers Program Academy

On August 15th - 19th, the Prince George's County Police Department's Community Services Division held an academy for the 2011 Police Explorers Program at the departments Training and Education Division.

The young men and women of the Explorers Program experienced training similar to that of a career law enforcement officer. The Explorers learned defensive tactics, handcuffing techniques, and physical fitness training from the experienced academy staff.  Highlights also included a presentation and tour of the departments Aviation Unit and Emergency Services Team. A graduation ceremony was held at the conclusion of the academy.

The Prince George's County Police Explorers Program is a career-oriented mentoring program that introduces young men and women between the ages 14 and 20 to the skills they would use if they choose to work in law enforcement.  For more information on the program, please contact the Community Services Division at 301-909-7126.
