Police Make Arrest in Capitol Heights Homicide

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested Deangelo Walker, 25, in connection with the homicide of William Albert Nelson that occurred in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

On September 19, 2011, at approximately 8:58 p.m., Capitol Heights patrol officers responded to 23 Sultan Avenue for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Nelson lying in the street, suffering from trauma to his body. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Through the course of their investigation, homicide detectives developed Walker, of the 5500 block of Dole Street in Capitol Heights, as a suspect in the case. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Walker charging him with first degree murder; the arrest warrant was served at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections where Walker is being held on an unrelated charge. As a result of the warrant, Walker is being held on a no bond status.
