PGPD Teams Up with Top Chef Contestant to Promote Healthy Eating

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Community Services Division, in partnership with Timothy Dean of Top Chef Season 7 and Timothy Dean Burger restaurant, and the University of Maryland at College Park’s Extension Center, will introduce Harvesting Seeds of Hope on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. 

The Harvesting Seeds of Hope healthy eating initiative will include teens from the Prince George’s County Police Athletic League (P.A.L.).  The members of P.A.L. will take their knowledge of farming learned at the Montpelier Farm in Upper Marlboro to grow a pizza garden at police headquarters.  Harvesting Seeds of Hope’s goal is to encourage healthy eating, teach plant science, stress the importance of teamwork and instill a sense of responsibility amongst teens.
