Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni |
Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested and charged a man for impersonating a police officer in Upper Marlboro.
On June 20, 2012, at approximately 4:09 p.m., the suspect was driving a white pickup truck on southbound Route 301 when he attempted to perform a traffic stop on a Capitol Heights Police Officer who was in his personal vehicle at southbound Route 301 and Trade Zone Avenue.
The Capitol Heights police officer identified himself to the suspect who said that he was a military police officer from Louisiana. The suspect then advised the Capitol Heights officer that he was speeding. The Capitol Heights officer told the suspect he had no jurisdiction, and that having blue and red emergency equipment in his truck was illegal in Maryland. The suspect then left the scene as the Capitol Heights officer contacted Prince George’s County police and followed the suspect until the PGPD arrived.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni, 29, of the 900 block of Eastham Court, Crofton, Maryland, was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer and released on his own personal recognizance.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Mastrogiovanni is asked to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s District V Investigative Section at (301) 856-3130. This kind of nonsense brings discredit upon all military members! As a law abiding citizen, and a military service member, I would like to apologize for this individual’s actions! Prince George County Police Department, I hope this will not give your Department's Peace Officer an adverse opinion of military personnel.
