Police Investigate Suspicious Death in Fort Washington


Update: Shavon Phillips death ruled a homicide by the Prince George's County Police.  The investigation into her death continues.

Update: The body found in Fort Washington has been identified as 22-year-old Shavon Phillips of the 5100 block of Fitch Street S.E. Washington, DC. Phillips was reported missing on July 30, 2012 from the District of Columbia.


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a suspicious death in Fort Washington.


On August 1st, at approximately 8:32 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 12200 block of Braemer Circle for a citizen’s report of finding a body in a nearby creek. Upon arrival, officers discovered a decomposed body.

The body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the gender and cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
