PGPD Officers Recognized For Work to Reduce Gun Violence

Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw led a PGPD delegation attending an award ceremony to recognize the many law enforcement achievements connected to Maryland's EXILE strategy.

EXILE is a unified and comprehensive strategy to combat gun crime, initiated in Prince George's County and Baltimore City in 2006, and later expanded to include Wicomico and Anne Arundel Counties, Annapolis and Frederick.

On October 11, 2012, at an event in Baltimore, leaders from local, state, and federal agency partners joined to present achievement awards to federal agents and state and local police officers from across Maryland.

Seventeen Prince George's County Police officers were among the 74 members of partner law enforcement agencies honored for the increasing number of defendants who are being charged with gun related and other violent crimes.  Many of the EXILE cases involve local gun arrests that result in lengthy !!!federal prison sentences.
