The Prince George’s County Police Department, in partnership
with the Office of Homeland Security, other government agencies, utility
providers, community and faith-based organizations, will host a Community
Emergency Preparedness Conference on Saturday, October 13th, 2012. The
conference is free and open to the public.
In its continuing effort to broaden and strengthen the
community’s ability to safeguard itself, the Prince George’s County Police
Department will co-host workshops on what to do in the event of natural
disasters or catastrophic events. Workshop discussions will cover measures to
be taken for individuals with functional needs or in congregate living, how to
develop a three to five day sustainability plan, surviving without utilities for
an extended period of time, and how to determine whether existing insurance
coverage would be enough to help a family recover from devastating events such
as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, etc.
