Juan Alberto Ortiz-Orellana
Jorge Enrique Moreno-Aguilar

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested two suspects for the murder of Erick Amilicar Mendez-Orellana. The suspects are identified as 24-year-old Juan Alberto Ortiz-Orellana of the 5000 block of Silver Hill Court in District Heights and 19-year-old Jorge Enrique Moreno-Aguilar of the 6500 block of Grafton Street in District Heights.

On March 12, 2013, at approximately 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, patrol officers found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Ortiz-Orellana was arrested on unrelated immigration charges by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations agents on April 18, 2013.  After that arrest, PGPD detectives interviewed Ortiz-Orellana and he admitted his involvement in the murder.  Based on information he provided, detectives developed Moreno-Aguilar as a suspect.
