Members of the Prince George’s County Police Department are lacing up this summer to connect with children in the community.  The PGPD is partnering with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation to promote its signature program “Badges for Baseball”.

Police officers assigned to the Community Services Division and COPS officers from District IV are using sports to teach children about healthy life choices – staying in school, saying no to drugs and avoiding negative peer pressure.

A day at Nationals Park

The program kicked off on June 20, 2013 with a huge community turnout. The group has also enjoyed a day at Nationals Park together.  Badges for Baseball participants will meet every Thursday evening until August 8, 2013.

Parents of children between the ages of 10 and 14 who would like more information about the program are encouraged to contact Cpl. Rodney Gause or Cpl. Kurt Schnitzenbaumer of the Community Services Division at (301) 909-7126.
