After 21 years with the Prince George’s County Police
Department, Assistant Chief Kevin Davis is taking the helm of the Anne Arundel
County (MD) Police Department. Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Newman
made the announcement through a news release today saying, “Chief Davis is a proven leader and shares
my vision for the future of our police department. I am confident that under
his leadership, morale and professionalism will be restored and the Anne
Arundel County Police Department will become a model in the state.”
Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw shared the
news with the PGPD through a statement that read in part, “The AAPD gains an
innovative leader and one of the hardest working men I’ve ever known. Our
loss is without question their gain and we wish him all the best in this
exciting new opportunity."
“I’ll miss so many great people here and will forever
treasure the relationships and experiences that have enriched my professional
and personal life,” says Assistant Chief Davis.
Assistant Chief Davis joined the Prince George’s County
Police Department in 1992. During his career, he worked as a patrol
officer, served in the Special Operations Division as a member of the Emergency
Services Team and worked in the Narcotics Enforcement Division. Upon
being promoted to the rank of Major in 2005, Assistant Chief Davis was assigned
to District I’s Hyattsville station as its commander. In 2009, he was
appointed to Deputy Chief and successfully led the Bureau of Investigations and
later the Bureau of Patrol. In 2011, he was appointed Assistant Chief of
Police, with oversight over the four deputy chiefs and their respective bureaus
as well as the Media Relations Division.
Chief Davis’ appointment is effective Monday, July 15.
Congratulations to Chief Davis this is a well deserved Promotion and he will be an excellent Chief.
