The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash in Fort Washington. The deceased driver is identified as 26-year-old Derico Cordora Lynch, of the 900 block of Chatsworth Drive in Accokeek.
On July 7, 2013 at approximately 4:15 pm, patrol officers responded to the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Livingston Road for the report of a crash involving four vehicles. Upon arrival, patrol officers found Lynch suffering from critical injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation reveals Lynch was driving a Dodge Magnum on southbound Indian Head Highway. For reasons which remain unclear, Lynch lost control of his vehicle and struck the side of a Mercedes Benz. After the initial collision, the Dodge crossed the median and struck a Suzuki motorcycle that was stopped at the traffic light in the northbound lane. The Dodge then came to rest after striking a Toyota truck. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were treated and released for minor injuries from the hospital. The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.
Preliminary, neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in this ongoing investigation.
