PGPD Investigates College Park Assault

Update August 29, 2013:  The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the person of interest seen walking in this surveillance video.  The man can be seen walking on the left sidewalk—twice towards the camera and once away from the camera.  This took place on College Avenue and Dickerson Avenue in College Park on Saturday, August 24, 2013.  The person of interest is wanted for questioning in connection with the assault of a University of Maryland student.   Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call the Regional Investigation Division-Northern Region at 301-699-2601.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating an assault in College Park.

On August 24, 2013, at about 1:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 4600 block of College Avenue for the report of a cutting.  Upon arrival, patrol officers found a man suffering from a laceration to his upper body.  The victim is a student at the University of Maryland.  He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and suspect began to argue after encountering each other on College Avenue.  The argument became physical, and the two men began fighting.  During the fight, the suspect cut the victim with a sharp object.  The suspect then ran away.

The suspect is described as a white male with a slim build and blond hair.  He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
