PGPD Charges Driver Who Crashed Into Daycare

The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged the driver who crashed her car into a daycare in Clinton. The driver is identified as 44-year-old Stacey Porter of the 1900 block of Savannah Place in Southeast Washington.  She’s charged with driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding police and related traffic offenses.

On November 12, 2013 at about 11:25 pm, patrol officers were called to an armed robbery of a convenience store on Fox Run Drive in Clinton.  A police officer spotted a car speeding on Fox Run Drive close to the robbed store. Police officers tried several times to stop the car on nearby Woodyard Road.  Each time, the driver initially slowed down, appearing to stop, but then sped back up.  The driver, Porter, lost control of her car while trying to make a turn and crashed into the garage of a daycare on Woodyard Road.  As police officers approached to talk to Porter, the car caught on fire.  The officers rushed to get their fire extinguishers and were able to save Porter from the burning car.  The police officers then quickly cleared the home to ensure no one was inside. The fire did extensive damage to the garage.

Porter suffered minor injuries to her face and ankle and was hospitalized.
