PGPD Arrests Two Suspects in New Carrollton Homicide

Adrienne Bell

Lakeshia Evans

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with the January 1, 2014, homicide in New Carrollton. The suspects are identified as 26-year-old Lakeisha Colena Evans and 28-year-old Adrienne Jacobe Bell, both of the 5500 block of Karen Elaine Drive in New Carrollton.  The victim is identified as 28-year-old Vondrell Lemar Smith of the 7800 block of Riverdale Road in New Carrollton.

On January 1, 2014, at about 4:30 am, police officers from the New Carrollton Police Department were called to the 5500 block of Karen Elaine Drive for a shooting.  When the officers arrived, they found Smith outside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He died of his injuries a short time later.  As is standard procedure, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit assumed responsibility of this investigation.

The investigation reveals that Smith went to the suspects’ home where a confrontation broke out.  During that confrontation, Smith was shot.
After the shooting, Evans and Bell fled from the scene.  They were arrested on January 9, 2014, at a family member’s home in Laurel.  Both Evans and Bell are charged with first degree murder.
