PGPD Patrol Officers Catch Escaped Inmate

Larence Godfrey

Prince George's County Police patrol officers arrested the inmate who escaped this morning from the Dorsey Run Correctional Facility in Jessup, MD.

The patrol officers were called to the 2500 block of Oxon Run Drive in Hillcrest Heights at about 6:15 pm for the report of a suspicious person.  A tipster called 911 to alert the PGPD that Larence Godfrey was in a home on Oxon Run Drive.  Responding patrol officers immediately set up a perimeter around the house.  Godfrey tried to run from the back of the home.  He was quickly caught.  Godfrey has since been returned to the facility in Anne Arundel County.  Godfrey had been sentenced in 2002 for attempted murder.

For additional information about the arrest of Godfrey, please call the Prince George's County Police Department's Media Relations Division at 301-772-4710.  Any questions about Godfrey's escape should be directed to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
