Crime Solvers Tips Help Lead to Arrest of Bank Robbery Suspect




The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Upper Marlboro.  He’s identified as 46-year-old Melvin Ranard King of Danbury Street in Southwest Washington.  Tips called into the Prince George’s County Crime Solvers line helped robbery detectives identify King as a suspect.

On April 8, 2014, at about 10:00 am, King robbed a bank in the 14600 block of Church Street.
The preliminary investigation revealed King approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded cash.  The teller complied. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

On April 17, 2014, robbery detectives obtained a warrant for King’s arrest. On April 22, 2014, he was arrested in Camp Springs, MD. King may be linked to additional armed robberies in the county and could face additional charges.  He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
