The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Fairmount Heights.
On December 18, 2014, at about 9:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Sheriff Road and 61st Avenue for a crash involving a car and a tow truck. When they arrived, they found the car’s driver suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The tow truck driver and his passenger were not hurt.
The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of the car was heading westbound on Sheriff Road when she hit the back of the tow truck that was stopped and trying to make a left turn onto 61st Avenue.
The victim’s name will be released once the family is notified.
