PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal car crash in Capitol Heights. The victim is 22-year-old Angela Sheketa Carter of Fitch Street in Southeast Washington.

On August 9, 2015, at about 3:45 am, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Central Avenue and Quire Avenue for the report of a crash involving one car. Carter was a passenger in the car with two other occupants. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver suffered critical injuries. The other passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, the investigation reveals the car was heading eastbound on Central Avenue when it crossed the center lines, left the roadway and struck a cinder block retaining wall.

Investigators are looking into whether speed was a factor in this crash.
