PGPD Honors Patrol Officers of the Month

Whether the sun is shining or we’re bracing for days of heavy rain, PGPD patrol officers are suited up and serving and protecting the residents of Prince George’s County. Too often, their good work goes unnoticed. Here are the Patrol Officers of the Month for August.

District I Patrol Officer of the Month
Police Officer First Class Garrett Morris

On August 6th while on patrol, Police Officer First Class Garrett Morris saw a speeding car run a red light on Annapolis Road at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. The patrol officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed the driver was unusually nervous. The driver wasn’t able to produce a valid license and a check revealed his privilege to drive had been suspended six times.

A warrant check also revealed he had an extensive criminal record to include numerous arrests for felony drug distribution, assault, resisting arrest and carrying a pistol without a license. The driver told POFC Morris that he had no drugs or weapons and gave permission for the officer to check the car. When backup arrived, POFC Morris searched the car and found a gun in the glove box and ammunition in the center console. The driver was arrested.
