Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Drug-Related Homicide

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit made a quick arrest in this morning’s homicide in Temple Hills. The suspect is 27-year-old Tyon Darnell Garner of the 6400 block of Hilmar Drive in Forestville. He is charged with fatally shooting 18-year-old Randy Edward Franklin, Jr. of Southern Avenue in Temple Hills.
On February 5, 2016, at about 12:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 2600 block of Southern Avenue for a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Detectives quickly established Garner as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals this fatal shooting stemmed from a drug deal. Officers arrested Garner this morning in the 3400 block of Walters Lane. He’s charged with first degree and second degree murder and other related charges.
