The
Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in
District Heights last Thursday. The victim is 21-year-old Marcus Hayes Jr. of
Shady Glen Drive in District Heights.
On
July 14th at about 2:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the
intersection of Marlboro Pike at Boones Lane for a crash.
The
preliminary investigation reveals Hayes was making a left turn from southbound
Boones Lane onto eastbound Marlboro Pike. For reasons which remain under
investigation, preliminarily it appears Hayes lost control. He was thrown from
his motorcycle and struck an SUV. Hayes was taken to a hospital in critical
condition, where he died hours later. The driver of the SUV was not hurt and
remained on the scene.
