Detectives Investigate Homicide in Bowie

The Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting in Bowie. The victim is 44-year-old Cleve Monnity of Kinmount Road in Lanham. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

At about 10:40 pm on July 30th, officers with the Bowie Police Department responded to the 15700 block of Evrest Drive for a check on the welfare of a man lying in the road. The officers found Monnity with gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to identify a motive and the suspect(s).
