Detectives Charge Suspect in Connection With Fatal Shooting

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the death of a man in the unincorporated part of Hyattsville. He is 21-year-old Eulises Alvarado-Reyes of Hamilton Street. The suspect is 18-year-old Henry Reyes of the 5700 block of Gallatin Street. The suspect and victim were friends.

On September 15^th, at about 10:55 pm, patrol officers were called to a local hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding a walk-in shooting victim. Alvarado-Reyes was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals he had been shot in the 5000 block of 56^th Place and then driven to the hospital by witnesses. Preliminarily, it appears the suspect was handling a weapon which discharged and struck the victim. 

Reyes is charged with manslaughter and a weapons charge.
