Detectives to Canvass Temple Hills Neighborhood in Homicide Investigation

This evening, detectives will canvass a Temple Hills neighborhood to gather information in the fatal shooting of 52-year-old George Barnes earlier this month. Investigators will pass out Crime Solvers flyers with a composite sketch of the suspect. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On September 8th at about 11:00 am, officers were called to the 2500 block of Southern Avenue for the report of a shooting. The officers found Barnes suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at a hospital.

The suspect is an African-American male, between the ages of 24-30, 6’0”-6’3” and weighs about 185-200 pounds.

The canvass is set to begin at 6:00 pm in the 2500 block of Southern Avenue.
