PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Riverdale Park

 
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Riverdale Park Thursday evening. The victim is 45-year-old Demetrio Lopez of Newberry Lane in Lanham. 

On October 19th, at approximately 7:00 pm, patrol officers responded to area of Kenilworth Avenue and Spring Lane for a collision involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian, Lopez, was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. The driver of the car that struck Lopez was not hurt.

The preliminary investigation reveals Lopez was struck as he tried to cross Kenilworth Avenue. Investigators are working to determine if he was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
