Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in City of New Carrollton

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting in the city of New Carrollton on Monday. The victim is 24-year-old Desmond Burns of 85^th Avenue in New Carrollton. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their name.

On November 13^th, at about 7:45 pm, patrol officers and officers with the New Carrollton Police Department were called to the 5300 block of 85^th Avenue for a shooting. When they arrived, officers discovered the victim outside with a gunshot wound to the body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are looking to identify a suspect(s) and a motive in this case.
