The Collision Analysis and
Reconstruction Unit is
investigating a fatal crash in Beltsville on
Tuesday. The victim is 32-year-old Jose Cruz-Rivas of
Leighton Avenue in Silver Spring
On February 6th, at approximately 10:45 am, patrol officers were called to Ewing Road at Hanna
Street for a collision involving a car and a truck.
The preliminary investigation
reveals Cruz-Rivas was driving westbound on Ewing Road when for
reasons that remain under investigation, he lost control, hit a curb and collided with the truck
which was stopped at a stop sign. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The
driver of the truck suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
