Detectives with our Homicide Unit
are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man Monday in Riverdale
Heights. The victim is 36-year-old Oscar Rene-Espinal
of 56th Avenue in Riverdale Heights. A
reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest
and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their name.
On June 25th, at approximately 7:15 am, patrol officers were called to the 5400 block of Carters Lane for a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Rene-Espinal unresponsive in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.
