Video of Porch Package Thieves in Action; Tips on Stopping These Grinches

This first video speaks for itself. For several minutes, a determined thief works to steal a large screen TV that had been delivered to a Fort Washington home. On the video, the criminal is seen stealing the large box from the home on Gable Lane, then falling over with it as he races back to the car. He then repeatedly tries to fit the box in his awaiting getaway car. After some success, the car speeds away, with the backdoor still open. Here is a picture of the suspect who stole the box. This theft took place on November 29^th.

The next video was taken at a home on Meadow Trail Lane in the Landover area. On October 23^rd, a suspect is seen pulling up in a white car, getting out and walking to the front porch. He grabs a package and then drives away.

Our last video is of a package theft is out of Capitol Heights. On November 29^th, two suspects approach a home on Quietview Drive. They quickly steal multiple packages that had been delivered to the home.

The Prince George’s County Police Department actively investigates each of these package thefts. Since the middle of October through this week, there were 62 reported package thefts in our county.

As the Christmas shopping season gets into full swing, we are offering safety tips to help stop these types of package thieves:

*If possible, pick up the ordered item at the store

*Ship the item to your workplace

*Have a neighbor keep an eye out for the item if you know you won’t be home during the delivery window

*Have the item sent to a friend or family member who is home during normal delivery hours

*If possible, ship the item to an Amazon Locker, UPS Office, FedEx Office or Post Office

*Require a signature at the time of delivery
