Homicide Unit detectives arrested a husband and
wife in connection with a fatal shooting in Adelphi
on Tuesday. The suspects are 24-year-old Edgar Garcia Constancia of the 14000
block of Cove Lane in Rockville and 27-year-old Norma Reyes Carbajal, also of the 14000 block of Cove Lane. They’re charged with the murder of 20-year-old Merlin Ramirez-Lara of Piney Branch Road in
Silver Spring.
On April 9th,
at approximately 6:15 am, patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of 20th Avenue
for a welfare check. The victim was discovered outside suffering from gunshot
wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation
reveals the
victim had been in a romantic relationship with Reyes Carbajal. She agreed to
meet the victim at the shooting location where Garcia Constancia was waiting.
He shot and killed the victim.
Both of the suspects are charged with first degree murder and related charges. They’re
in custody of the Department of Corrections.
