PGPD Arrests Suspect Wanted in Connection with College Park Assault

Prince George’s County Police officers located and arrested a man wanted in connection with an assault that occurred last week in College Park. He is 18-year-old Vashann Robinson of the 7700 block of Hanover Parkway in Greenbelt.

Detectives released the above surveillance photos to the community following the incident which occurred on August 6^th at approximately 10:00 pm. The suspect had approached an adult female in the 4400 block of Guilford Drive. He asked the victim to help him find his lost dog. After initially declining to help, he approached the victim approximately 30 minutes later and again asked for her assistance. As the suspect and victim walked together, the suspect grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to drag her to a nearby parking lot. The suspect released the victim when a witness shouted at the suspect. The victim was not physically injured.

Members of the District I Special Assignment team spotted Robinson this weekend on Baltimore Avenue at Tuckerman Street. He matched the description of the suspect seen in the surveillance video and was wearing clothing identical to the clothing worn by the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident. He has since admitted his involvement in the crime.

Robinson is charged with attempted kidnapping, second degree assault and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Policía del Condado de Prince George Arresta a Sospechoso Buscado en Conexión con Agresión en College Park

Oficiales de la Policía del Condado de Prince George localizaron y arrestaron a un hombre a quien buscaban en conexión a una agresión ocurrida en College Park la semana pasada. Se trata de Vashann Robinson, de 18 años de edad y vecino de la cuadra 7700 de Hanover Parkway en Greenbelt.

 Los Detectives le hicieron llegar las fotos aduntas a la comunidad luego del incidente ocurrido el pasado 6 de agosto  a eso de las 10:00 pm. El sospechoso se le había acercado a la víctima en la cuadra 4400 de Guilford Drive, preguntándole si le podía ayudar a encontrar su perro. Tras esta inicialmente negarse a ayudarle, el sospechoso volvió a acercarse aproximadamente 30 minutos después y nuevamente le pidió ayuda. Mientras el sospechoso y la víctima caminaban juntos este agarró a la víctima por detrás e intentó arrastrarla hasta un área de estacionamiento cercana. El sospechoso soltó a la víctima cuando un testigo le gritó. La víctima no sufrió lesiones físicas.

Miembros del Equipo de Asignaciones Especiales del Distrito I ubicaron a Robinson durante el fin de semana en Baltimore. Su apariencia coincidía con la descripción del sospechoso según aprecia en el video de vigilancia y además llevaba ropa idéntica a la que tenía el sospechoso en el mismo. Fue tomado bajo custodia sin ningún incidente. Desde ese entonces admitió haber estado involucrado en el delito.

A Robinson se le acusa por tentativa de secuestro y agresión en segundo grado entre otros cargos relacionados. Se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Correcciones sin fianza.

Al momento no se reportan otros incidentes de esta naturaleza en el área.
