Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested the suspect wanted for a recent fatal shooting in Lanham. The suspect is 22-year-old Rome Watkins of the 2800 block of Hornbeam Court in Glenarden. He’s charged in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Tavon Davis of Laurel.
On October 5, 2020, at approximately 11:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5600 block of Duchaine Drive for a shooting. Officers discovered Davis outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and victim were known to each other. The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation. Watkins is charged with first degree murder, second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. A court commissioner ordered him held on a no-bond status.

Detectives Arrestan Sospechso por Mortal Tiroteo en Lanham
Detectives de la Unidad de Homicidios de la Policía de Prince George’s identificaron y arrestaron al sospechoso a quien buscaban por un mortal tiroteo reciente en Lanham. El sospechoso fue identificado como Rome Watkins, de 22 años de edad y vecino de la cuadra 2800 de Hornbeam Court en Glenarden. A éste le acusan en conexión al asesinato de Tavon Davis, de 27 años de edad y vecino del área de Laurel.
El 5 de octubre, a eso de las 11:40 de la noche, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la cuadra 5600 de Duchaine Drive tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Los oficiales hallaron a Davis con múltiples heridas de bala en las afueras del lugar. A éste le declararon muerto en la escena.
La investigación preliminar reveló que el sospechoso y la víctima se conocían entre sí. El motivo del mortal tiroteo continúa bajo investigación. Watkins enfrenta cargos por asesinato en primer grado y asesinato en segundo grado, entre otros cargos relacionados. Éste se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección. Un comisionado de la corte ordenó a que le mantuvieran recluso sin derecho a fianza.
