The Homicide Unit arrested a man for a fatal shooting in Landover. The suspect is 48-year-old Curtis James Lay of Landover. He’s charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Matthew Grant Hayes of Hyattsville.
On October 6, 2021, at approximately 7:15 pm, officers responded to the 7200 block of Landover Road for a shooting. They located the victim outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim during a physical confrontation. The suspect and victim were known to each other.
Lay is charged with first and second degree murder and is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Detectives Arrestan Sospechoso por Mortal Tiroteo en

La Unidad de Homicidios arrestó a un individuo por un mortal tiroteo que se registró en Landover. El sospechoso fue identificado como Curtis James Lay, de 48 años y vecino de Landover. A este le acusan en conexión al asesinato a tiros de Matthew Grant Hayes, de 37 años y vecino de Hyattsville.
El 6 de octubre de 2021, a eso de las 7:15 pm, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la cuadra 7200 de Landover Road tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Estos hallaron a la víctima en las afueras del área, con múltiples heridas de bala.
