PGPD Identifies & Arrests Suspect Linked to Two Sexual Assaults in District Heights

 Suspect Also Charged With Inappropriately Touching Women at Mall & Attempted Robbery

The Prince George’s County Police Department identified, located and arrested a suspect linked to a sexual assault and an attempted sexual assault in District Heights late last week. The suspect is 36-year-old Sean Lorenzo Tolbert of Washington, DC. Tolbert is also charged with inappropriately touching six women at a mall last Tuesday and attempting to rob a store at the same shopping center.

 

On September 16, 2022, at approximately 11:45 pm, a victim returned to her home in the 6000 block of Surrey Square Lane. As she entered her apartment, Tolbert approached her with a gun and forced her inside of her apartment where he sexually assaulted her. He then fled her home. The victim and suspect did not know each other.

 

As investigators canvassed for information in that case the following morning, patrol officers were dispatched to two calls in the same apartment complex at approximately 10:30 am. One resident advised officers a suspect had just attempted to sexually assault her inside of her apartment. She told officers she had met the man the night before in her apartment complex. The victim advised officers she had confronted the suspect for potentially stealing items from her apartment when the attempted sexual assault occurred. He fled when she called 911. Another resident advised officers a suspect had just pulled a gun on her and attempted to get into her apartment. She yelled and he ran away. As detectives interviewed the most recent victim, another 911 call came in for the report of an armed person at the complex. Responding patrol officers observed the suspect who attempted to run from officers. He was quickly apprehended. A loaded gun was recovered at the most recent scene. Tolbert is charged in all three cases in the apartment complex.

 

Investigators have now also charged Tolbert with inappropriately touching six women on September 13, 2022, at a shopping mall in the 3300 block of Donnell Drive in Forestville. Tolbert is also charged with attempting to rob a business at the mall at gunpoint. Through various investigative techniques, investigators identified Tolbert as the suspect in the crimes at the mall. On September 14, 2022, investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest in connection with those cases.

 

Tolbert faces multiple charges in connection with all of these incident to include: first degree rape, attempted first degree rape, first degree assault, gun charges, robbery, theft and additional charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Identifica y Arresta a Sospechoso Conectado a Dos Incidentes de Agresión Sexual en District Heights

El Departamento de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s identificó, localizó y arrestó a un sospechoso conectado a un incidente de agresión sexual y a un segundo atentado de agresión sexual que se registró en District Heights a finales de la semana pasada. El sospechoso fue identificado como Sean Lorenzo Tolbert, de 36 años y vecino de Washington DC. A Tolbert además se le imputa haber tocado inapropiadamente a seis mujeres en un centro comercial así como haber intentado asaltar una tienda en el mismo lugar el pasado martes.

El 16 de septiembre de 2022, a eso de las 11:45 pm, una víctima regresó a su hogar ubicado en la cuadra 6000 de Surrey Square Lane. Mientras entraba en su apartamento, Tolbert se le acercó con un arma e invadió su residencia, en donde procedió a agredirla sexualmente. Luego de esto huyó de la casa. La víctima y el sospechoso no se conocían entre sí.

Mientras los detectives llevaban a cabo un recorrido para buscar información la siguiente mañana, oficiales de patrulla acudieron al lugar tras recibir 2 pedidos de auxilio dentro del mismo complejo de apartamentos a eso de las 10:30 am. Una residente informó a los oficiales que un sospechoso acababa de haber intentado agredirla sexualmente dentro de su apartamento. Les indicó que había conocido al individuo la noche antes en el complejo de apartamentos. Esta explicó a los oficiales que había confrontado al sospechoso por posiblemente haberle robado cosas del apartamento cuando este intentó agredirla sexualmente. Este huyó cuando ella llamó al 911. Otra residente indicó que un sospechoso le acababa de sacar un arma e intentó invadir su apartamento. Esta comenzó a gritar y el individuo salió corriendo. Mientras los detectives entrevistaban a la más reciente víctima, se reportó una tercera llamada al 911 en donde reportaban a una persona armada dentro del complejo. Los oficiales que acudieron al lugar observaron al sospechoso que intentaba huirle a otros oficiales y de inmediato lograron agarrarle. Estos incautaron un arma en la escena más reciente. Tolbert es el acusado en los tres casos que se suscitaron dentro del complejo de apartamentos.

Nuestros detectives ahora también acusaron a Tolbert por haber tocado inapropiadamente a seis mujeres el pasado 13 de septiembre de 2022 en un centro comercial ubicado en la cuadra 3300 de Donnell Drive en Forestville. Tolbert además enfrenta cargos por intentar asaltar a mano armada un negocio en el centro comercial. Mediante varias técnicas investigativas, los detectives lograron identificar a Tolbert como el sospechoso de los crímenes ocurridos en el centro comercial. El 14 de septiembre de 2022, los detectives lograron obtener una orden de arresto en conexión a estos casos.

Tolbert enfrenta múltiples cargos en conexión a todos los incidentes, entre los cuales figuran: violación en primer grado, tentativa de violación en primer grado, agresión en primer grado, cargos relacionados a armas de fuego, robo y hurto, entre otros. Este se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección, sin derecho a fianza.
