The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this weekend in the unincorporated section of Upper Marlboro. The victim is 22-year-old Amarnae Smith of Baltimore. A second victim, an adult male, was also shot. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
On August 26, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm, officers responded to the 14700 block of Willoughby Road for a shooting. Smith was pronounced deceased on the scene. The surviving victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).
