The Homicide Unit arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of his roommate on Wednesday in Springdale. The suspect is 38-year-old Richard Bennaugh from Springdale. He is charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old Domonique Scott Hayes.
On January 10, 2024, at approximately 12:30 pm, officers responded to the 2800 block of Berrywood Lane for the report of a shooting. Officers discovered the decedent inside of a home suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Bennaugh shot the decedent during a dispute.
After consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Bennaugh has been charged with manslaughter and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
