PGPD Searches for Driver Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred in Temple Hills on Friday. The deceased pedestrian is 48-year-old Carlos Barrett Sr. of Suitland.

On March 15, 2024, at approximately 9:15 pm, patrol officers responded to the area of Branch Avenue and the Suitland Parkway overpass for welfare check. The officers located the victim in the roadway suffering from trauma. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the involved driver struck Barrett in the southbound lanes of Branch Avenue. The driver did not remain on the scene. At this time, the make and model of the striking vehicle is unknown.
