PGPD to Assist in Mock Vehicle Crash for upcoming “Smooth Operator” Program

Prince George's County, Maryland… In anticipation for the upcoming regional “Smooth Operator” Program, the Maryland State Highway Administration and the Prince George’s County Police Department will be conducting a live demonstration of a single vehicle rollover crash at Parkdale High School. The purpose of the event is to educate the public on the dangers of speeding behind the wheel by providing a vivid example of the damages and results that may be caused by aggressive driving.

The “Smooth Operator” Program was founded in 1997 with 18 law enforcement agencies, public safety officials, and other experts across the greater Washington, DC region to coordinate efforts to reduce aggressive driving. The program efforts have resulted in over 3.6 million citations being issued to aggressive drivers since its inception.
