Police Make Arrest in Doewood Lane Homicide

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 28 year-old Jamik Mathew Sumby in connection with the murder of Perry Earl Hunt which occurred last week in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Homicide detectives developed Sumby, of the 5100 block of North Englewood Drive, Fairmount Heights, Maryland, as a suspect during the course of their investigation. He was arrested today and charged with second degree murder. Sumby was remanded to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

On January 13, 2012, at approximately 8:29 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Doewood Lane for a report of a body. Upon arrival, patrol officers found 31-year-old Perry Earl Hunt, of the 5100 block of Sly Fox Court, Upper Marlboro, behind an apartment complex trash receptacle unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The investigation revealed Sumby and Hunt were known acquaintances and that Hunt was stabbed during an altercation with Sumby at another location.
