PGPD Investigates Police-Involved Shooting in Fairmount Heights



The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred in Fairmount Heights, Maryland.

On June 21, 2012, at approximately 11:39 p.m., a Prince George’s County police officer was responding to the sound of gunshots near the 5600 block of Kolb Street. Upon arrival, the officer came in contact with three individuals. As the officer approached the group, one of the individuals fled. While pursuing the suspect, the officer discharged his issued service weapon, before striking him in the leg. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a crime scene search. During the search of the area where the incident occurred, detectives recovered illegal drugs and a handgun. The suspect was charged with possession of CDS and was released on his own personal recognizance. This investigation is ongoing.
