PGPD Announces Results of 2013 January Enforcement Operation

Every night in January, the Prince George’s County Police Department deployed more than 100 additional police officers to focus on violent crime and getting guns off county streets.  The initiative included police officers assigned to specialized divisions, to include the Narcotic Enforcement Division, the Special Operations Division, the gang unit, fugitive squad, robbery suppression teams and special assignment teams. Additionally, the ATF dedicated federal resources to this operation as a long-time partner with the PGPD in crime-fighting initiatives. During the month-long operation,  police officers made 380 arrests and recovered 39 weapons and 10 gun replicas.  The PGPD plans similar intensified enforcement operations in the near future.
