PGPD Investigates Murder-Suicide in College Park


The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide in College Park.

On February 12, 2013, just before 1:00 am, police officers were called to the 8700 block of 36th Avenue for the report of a shooting. 

The preliminary investigation reveals that an adult male shot two of his roommates, one fatally.  Before the shooting, the suspect set several small fires in the basement and in the backyard.  His two roommates went outside to speak with the suspect about the fires.  While outside, the suspect shot his two roommates.  One victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.  The suspect took his own life.  All three attend the University of Maryland.   The Prince George’s County Police Department is in the process of notifying affected family members.

The weapon used has been recovered on the scene.
