PGPD Makes Quick Arrests in College Park Robbery

Akauh Johann Kassi

Diamante Akeem Sulaiman

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery in College Park.  The suspects are identified as 18 year-old Akauh Johann Kassi of the 3300 block of Weeping Willow Court in Silver Spring and 18 year-old Diamante Akeem Sulaiman of the 13500 block of Greencastle Terrace in Burtonsville.

On February 16, 2013, around 12:35 am, police officers responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue and Pontiac Street in College Park for the report of a robbery.  The preliminary investigation reveals the suspects approached two University of Maryland students as they walked down the street.  The suspects assaulted the victims before stealing their two cell phones and a wallet.  Neither victim suffered injures as a result of the assault.

A short time later, police officers, assisted by the University of Maryland Police Department, stopped a group of men not far from where the robbery occurred. A stolen cell phone and wallet were found on the ground nearby.

During an interview with Prince George's County Police detectives, Sulaiman and Kassi admitted to their involvement in the robbery.  They are charged with robbery, second degree assault and related charges.  Both are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
