Quick Arrest Ends Barricade in Capitol Heights

          William Wyatt Raum

The Prince George’s County Police Department safely arrested a man who barricaded himself inside his Capitol Heights apartment.  He’s identified as 44-year-old William Wyatt Raum of the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike.

On July 22, 2013, at approximately 7:20 pm, a citizen alerted patrol officers that a man had been firing a weapon into the ground in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike. The suspect then went inside an apartment building.  The patrol officers quickly established a perimeter around the building.   A second witness told patrol officers that Raum had gone into an apartment and was likely not alone.

Conflict negotiators were called to the scene and made contact with Raum.  Raum agreed to come outside unarmed.  He was taken into custody without incident.  No one inside or outside the apartment was injured.  A handgun was recovered inside the apartment.

Raum is charged with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and other related charges.
