PGPD Releases Photo of Attempted Murder Suspect

Updated May 19, 2014: Smith was arrested on May 16, 2014, at about 9:00 pm in Charles County.  He remains in custody with the Prince George's County Department of Corrections.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is asking for our community’s help in locating a suspect wanted for attempted murder in Temple Hills.  The suspect is identified as 21-year-old Steven Dontrell Smith, of the 5900 block of Fisher Road in Temple Hills. 

On May 8, 2014, at about 1:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3200 block of Brinkley Road for a shooting.  The investigation revealed that Smith and the victim began arguing while in the parking lot of a shopping center.  Smith then pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times.  The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigative developments led detectives to identify Smith as the suspect.  He faces charges of attempted murder and first degree assault.
